Help Make Quality Education Available to Young Girls in Wetan Village
Despite improvements through the years, schools are still limited in rural Indonesia. And what limited option there are remains inaccessible for many children. With limited schools comes limited opportunities for the next generation, and limited growth for the entire community.

The first MI Al Islam school that we renovated back in 2022. Despite the extra rooms, the school doesn’t have enough capacity to cater to increasing demand of children from the neighboring villages who are applying. We’re currently fundraising to build a second building.
The Problem
In 2021, mothers who are working in Rumah SukkhaCitta saved a percentage of their income to purchase a van. What started as their initiative to ensure children in their village can go to school has evolved.
The van offered a safe option for many more children in neighboring villages who wants to go to school. To date, this community van picks up children in 8 villages every day.
However, with more enrolling than the school can physically house, they are now unable to receive any more students. Most of them are girls, who often don’t get the chance to attend school due to lack of promixity and cultural norms.
The Solution
To help make quality education accessible to more children and address the gender gap, we are fundraising to help the school build a second building.
The new building will house an additional 50 children. Most of them girls who otherwise face barriers in attending due to the distance from their village to the next possible school.
100% of this fundraising will go towards the community in building this school. Let’s turn their dream into reality.
When we asked women in rural Indonesia what they dream most in life, it’s accessible quality education for their children.
Currently, of the world’s illiterate adults, 2/3 are women. While there have been global improvements in literacy rates, gender disparities persist. The share of illiterate women remains unchanged over the past 20 years.
